MEET  DR. GORMAN

Dr. Gorman is a highly respected specialist who is dedicated to his patient's dental health and concerned about their well being.  He is origionally from Mamaroneck, New York.  He graduated from Long Island Universtiy in 1970 with a dual degree in chemistry and mathematics.  He was accepted to Meharry Medical College School of Dentisty and graduated in 1974.  He then went on to complete a highly competitive two year residency in Periodontology at Louisiana State University  in New Orleans, graduating in 1976.  Dr. Gorman was one of only two dentists accepted into the prestigious LSU graduate Periodontics  program.  He completed  his internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, where he was on staff as a resident periodontist.

Dr. Gorman began his solo practice in Plainview in 1979 and later opened a satelite office in Aquebogue, Long Island in 1983.  He has been in practice in Plainview for 30 years.  Many of Dr. Gorman's patients have commented that he   has "light hands and a gentle touch".  He is especially concerned with and sympathetic with patients who have apprehension or anxiety about their procedures.  He utilizes nitrous oxide (sweet air) for any or all of your procedures, including periodontal maintenance and he also can prescribe oral sedatives in conjunction with the air.  He has also performed periodontal surgeries in the hospital setting.

Dr. Gorman completed an intensive 300 hour advanced certificate course in Implantology at  New York University School of Dentistry and Brookdale General Hospital in 1986.  He received his advanced training from noted implantologist A.Norman Cranin, D.D.S., who has written implantology text books. Dr. Gorman has been performing dental implant surgery for 20 years.  He is a highly proficient implant surgeon and is very successful and very experienced in placing implants.  He has placed thousands of implants for patients of all ages and income brackets.  His patients have expressed a high degree of satisfaction with Dr. Gorman and they are very happy with their implants.  They are especially pleased  and have commented about the courteous, friendly, and professional manner in which they were treated by Dr. Gorman and his staff.

LATEST CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSES:

Dr. Gorman recently received a commendation for completing 511 hours of CE courses.  They include lectures about cosmetic dentistry, periodontics, anesthesia and pain control, oral pathology, and implant surgery.  Dr. Gorman regularly participates in the annual AAP conferences and attends various lectures that are offered only to Periodontists.
